Rangoli Art is the traditional art of India. It is believed that having Rangoli Design in front of your house brings good luck apart from home decoration purpose. Also in various festivals like Diwali, Dashahara, Snakranti, Gudhi Padva, Ugadi, Ganesh puja, Durga Puja, etc Rangoli is made in front of house and God idols. Also various communities held Rangoli Competitions during the Festival.
Rangoli has various names and form of arts in different states, like Kolam in Tamil Nadu, Muggu in Andhra Pradesh, Mandana in Rajasthan, Chowkpurana in Chhattisgarh, Alpana in West Bengal, Aripana in Bihar, Chowk pujan in Uttar Pradesh.
Rangoli can be made by various methods like Rangoli design using Stencils, Rangoli design with dots, Rangoli with colours, Rangoli design with Flowers. Border Rangoli design or Simple Flower/leaf patterns can be considered as Rangoli designs for beginners. These are very Simple Rangoli designs, even kids can draw these Rangoli.

Diwali is an auspicious occasion and we all love decorating our houses. We mostly use lanterns and lampshades to decorate our homes. Let us make a simple yet elegant diy diwali lantern which can be used as home decor.
Things Needed for DIY Diwali Lantern:
Take a thin cardboard of dimension 42*22 cm.
Use a scale and mark 4 cm distance on the sheet.
Draw vertical lines on the sheet from the marking points.
Again mark 2 cm distance on the sheet across at the edges.
Draw a horizontal line joining these points.
Draw parallel lines close to the vertical lines. This forms as the gap in the lantern.
Use a cutter and cut out the paper sheet between the vertical lines.
Fold and join the end of the sheet to form a cylindrical shape.
Cut out a circular glossy sheet which forms the base of the lantern.
In the centre, cut a small circular piece.
Paste the circular sheet at one end of the cylinder.
Take the drinking straw and cut them in the same length of the cylinder.
Cut several straws of equal length.
Paste these straws on the cylinder.
Fill the gaps using small pieces of straw.
Cut out the decorative laces similar to the length of the cylinder.
Paste these laces on the cardboard length wise.
Decorate the lamp shade using decorative mirrors.
Take two different colour laces and decorate the top and bottom end of the cylinder.
Paste decorative pearls at the top end of the cylinder.
To make tassels for the lampshade, take a thin glossy sheet.
Cut thin horizontal strips till three fourth of the sheet.
Paste the tassel at the bottom end of the sheet using glue stick.
The decorative lamp shade is ready to use.
You can use this lampshade in Diwali and show them to your guests and relatives. It is easy to make and the materials are readily available in the market. Chocolates are the favourite of all. Our mouth starts watering when we hear the name chocolates. It serves as a perfect sweet option during Diwali or Christmas. Children are especially fond of it and love to savour it. It would be even better and attract more if the chocolates are presented in decorative baskets. It suits the occasion and the curiosity increases. Considering all these facts, we will show you how to make an easy DIY paper basket for chocolates which can also be used for gifting purpose.
Take the A4 sized cardboard color paper. Fold and cut the color paper in half lengthwise.
Fold the paper piece to make accordion as shown.
Make 6 such accordion pieces.
Paste these accordion pieces together using craft glue as shown.
Paste both the ends of the accordion together as shown.
Cut the circular shape out of the cardboard for base.
Make small cuts on the paper as shown.
Give the basket shape to the accordion and paste it on the cardboard base.
Cut the cardboard strip measuring 2cm wide.
Wrap the cardboard strip using color paper strip to make a handle of the basket as shown.
Cut the white paper piece measuring 4.5×4.5cm.
Similarly, cut the piece of white paper measuring 5.5×5.5cm.
Make such paper flowers.
Paste these paper flowers on the handle of the basket.
Now, decorate the basket using decorative pearls.
Your accordion basket is now ready to use. You can keep some chocolates inside and gift it to your loved ones.
